Tamiflu is one of the most widely used medications for the flu. It is so popular because it works great. Tamiflu’s secret is that it doesn’t try to treat the symptoms – it directly attacks the influenza virus. The influenza virus stays in the human body for a few days, and it cannot be removed before that. Tamiflu binds to the neuraminidase, which is present on the surface layer of the cells of the virus. It locks these cells inside and prevents them from being free to attack your system. Since the cells can no longer attack your body, you will not face the harsh symptoms and effects of the flu.

This is why Tamiflu is given to people who have had the flu for a day or two. After that the virus has been fully released in the body and Tamiflu will not serve a purpose any more. Tamiflu can only be prescribed by a doctor once they do a thorough check of the patient and determine whether it is needed or not.
